Youth Leadership Forum
A select group of teenagers, among the estimated thousands across Oklahoma who have developmental disabilities, are invited to attend the annual Oklahoma Youth Leadership Forum held at a university campus for a week every summer in June.
The camp, sponsored by the Oklahoma Developmental Disabilities Council, is a unique leadership training program for high school juniors and seniors. The goal of the program is to help prepare them for life after high school.
To be eligible to attend, a student must be an Oklahoma resident in 10th or 11th grade, returning to high school for the following school year, and have a disability as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Internationally known speakers provide fantastic experiences for the students, who also have the opportunity to interact with their peers across the state.
More information about the program is available from the ODDC office, (405) 521-4984 or (800) 836-4470. The application deadline is in March.
